The Cap de Creus headland is located on the easternmost tip of the Iberian peninsula in Girona and it enjoys breathtaking views of the coast. It is a place of outstanding natural beauty, in a unique geological setting. The erosive effect of the north wind on the coastline has created a number of natural sculptures and rock formations and transformed the landscape in a very special way.
The Cap de Creus, situated to the north of the Golfo de Rosas, is a steep and rocky promontory of 67.2m which rises above the Mediterranean Sea. The area is particularly wind and wave-buffeted because of its high coastal location. It is topped by a lighthouse that was built in 1853. The Cap de Creus was declared a nature reserve in May 1998.The natural park's landscape is a mixture of Mediterranean vegetation, rocky coastal hills, low cliff faces and wave-plundered coves. Cap de Creus is an excellent location for diving, bird-watching, cycling, swimming, hiking and taking boat trips.
There are a number of hotels, bungalows, hostels, tourist resorts and campsites in the nearby town of Cadaques.
